It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a old life.

It's the first post of the new year! And for some reason I'm not all too keen on 2009. The year of 2008 was the year of trying something new, being adventurous, taking chances. It was all fun and games for a while, but as the year slowly died down I realised that some things are better appreciated and executed with a bit of planning and anticipation that going with where the wind takes you.

I don't plan on making resolutions for this year, since I have already expressed to some people that time is continuous; you don't need a digit to change in the year to resolve something better for yourself. But I suppose the new year will pan out a lot differently than the last, simply because I am back on track to where I want to be going. I think I've had my fun though. It's time to plan ahead and achieve something even better. Whether or not I'll enjoy it, we'll just have to see.

Despite what they say about best laid plans, things always turn out for the best in the end. Some things just fall into place when you least expect it.

A Reflection.

As 2008 looms around the corner in.. T minus 6 hours.. I think it's about time I come up with some resolutions for the new year. I'm never fussed with this whole new year malarky, it's all just another day for me. Usually it's a day spent sleeping in and watching TV.

But as of late, so many things have been happening, so perhaps this is the time to properly make a list of what I would like to be doing this year. And maybe stick to it.

Last year my resolutions were to:

  1. Behave
  2. Work Harder
  3. Play As Hard As I Work

I remember breaking those quite quickly after New Year's. Except for playing hard, I think I did a lot of that this year. And I guess I have worked harder, despite it not being enough.

I don't know what it is about Xmas holidays, but I suddenly get very lethargic and bed-bound and refuse to do anything remotely interesting besides shopping and compulsory meetings with friends (compulsory simply because they'd kill you if you didn't have a good reason not to show up).

There's one resolution: Control My Expenditure. I've been spending alot ever since I got a job in the summer, and it drives me crazy because I seem to be unable to stop. It's like the voice that told me that I don't really need that dress, or when are you going to wear those shoes, or I don't HAVE to go out, has taken a permanent all-expenses paid vacation to Tahiti and is still there having a few too many pinacoladas.

This resolution needs to be kept, simply because I'd be shelling out for Ballroom classes, and quite possibly Wing Chun. And with MNight coming up soon I sincerely hope I'll be kept busy enough to not wander into any shops. Having said that, I've just remembered that Simran wants to go shopping on Friday. Fuck.

Anyway, resolution number 2, would be to Look Out For Myself. I have found that I spend a lot of time doting on other people, and trying not to let them down, and just generally be there. Unfortunately, this has meant that I haven't been there for myself. The current state of my room is evidence of that. Not that I'm blaming my messiness on other people or anything =S

Third resolution, would be to Get My Priorities Straight. Actually that would be a resolution I would like impose on other people. While my studies has been shunted very slightly when it comes to allocating my time, others people's studies have been pushed too high up their priority list. If you're one of those people, lighten up! You're only young once =)

Have a great 2008!!
