If All You've Got To Do Today...

I've quite literally been at home the past few days doing nothing in the most glorious fashion. And have been reliving the 90s :P

Two songs that have been buzzing in my ear lately:

When I was ten I was a secret Billie Piper fan. It was much cooler to proclaim your love for BSB or N'Sync back then. But come on, for those Billie haters, she was our only answer to Britney Spears. At least she never had a psychotic breakdown. Okay, both have had their share of problems in the past. But now one's feeding off her recent publicity by going on a megatour around the world and raking in everyone's money, and the other's a successful tv actress playing the belle du jour. Wait, that didn't come out right. Billie's happily married with a newborn baby and a career, while Britney has her showgirl act (and her wonder years) left to keep her afloat.

Oh whatever. I still don't like Britney.

Finally

It's the end of term. That's been the quickest term to date, and although it passed by in a flash it was the most lucid, dramatic, and eye-opening time I've had at Imperial. I don't know whether to dread or relish spring term or not.

Today my classmate gave in our Concrete project, so a bigger than usual sigh of relief (I breathe through my mouth alot this week because of my cold) now that I don't have to worry too much until January. I got to spend the whole day being sniffly, and wandering around meeting people. I love being in uni when you have no work to actually go do in some crevice of the library.

I met up with someone who hasn't seen me in 5 months today. He is always a very busy person. I get reminded constantly that he has to fit me in somewhere whenever I request a meet-up. But it's not his fault. It was good that I saw him today. It let the term end on a reassuring note. It was good to see him. A face I hadn't seen in so long.

There is so much you can gather from a face. His face remains the same in feature, but there is an innocent exuberance that has been lost. His is more determined, and less tolerant. But he still smiles that beautiful smile.

It's okay that I won't see you for another 3 months. It's okay that you're not there. It's okay that you're a crap friend. It's okay that you forget my birthday. It's okay because I don't need to see your face in order for me to do what I have to do.

I'm finally on track for what I set out to do. I've been mentally set back a year. I guess we're even.
